1st Overall. Cincinnati Bengals Select QB, Joe Burrow
Burrow has the ability to be a franchise-altering player. He dazzled the world this past season and may have ended Oklahoma's chance at returning to the playoffs due to that butt whooping they took. The once back up, and sought after Ohio kid is now the no brainer first overall pick and I hope we are all able to see him and Coach O soak up that moment on the big stage
2nd Overall. Washington Redskins Select CB, Jeff Okudah
This selection of mine may surprise you due to the popular figure that is Chase Young. However, Okudah was a shutdown corner all season long for the Buckeyes and has recently gained media attention due to the mind-blowing footwork skills he has displayed on workout videos. I envision this cat becoming a pro bowler in the league and a long time starter for wherever he goes.
3rd Overall. Detroit Lions Select DE, Chase Young
When a talent like this falls to you it becomes a must take draft pick. Chase Young was originally viewed as the 1st overall pick but his play slightly took a hit at the end of the season due to him taking on double team blocks and potentially a factor of durability. This is a wonderful fall of events for Detroit as he would fit perfectly into their rotation and help their # of sacks where they ranked 29th in the NFL last season.
4th Overall. New York Giants Select OT, Jedrick Wills
In a draft class that is loaded with offensive line talent, it is important for the Giants to jump on it. They need to protect their star RB, Saquan and hopeful franchise QB, Danny Dimes. Wills is the first of many offensive tackles that I envision being picked in the 1st round.
5th Overall. Miami Dolphins Select QB, Tua Tagovailoa
This is a slight risk pick but a potential high reward for the Dolphins who are in need of a spark. Tua operated in an Alabama system that is favorable to quarterbacks, but he also displayed moments of brilliance through his precision aim, and ability to use his legs to pick up a first down or make an out of the pocket pass. It is tough to say whether his game will transition to the next level or not but this position is an immediate need for Miami and their long term success so I would say the risk is certainly worth it.
6th Overall. LA Chargers Select QB, Justin Herbert
The last QB selected in the first round I believe will be Herbert. He is a highly talented player with great size that is a long term project but fills an immediate hole for the Chargers roster. I saw him lay his heart on the line in their bowl game versus Wisconsin and I noticed a winning attitude out of him all season long. He reminds me a bit of Josh Allen. He may not be productive right off the bat but I see him developing into a very solid QB with pro-bowl potential.
7th Overall. Carolina Panthers Select LB/DB, Isaiah Simmons
A total steal here for the rebuilding Panthers as they get a hybrid playmaker that has the ability to be plugged in on multiple defensive positions and shine. This guy could be the next Kuechly type linebacker or star safety roaming the field like a Polamalu. This pick would be even cooler if Carolina tanks this upcoming season and winds up with the star Clemson duo of Trevor Lawrence and Isaiah Simmons.
8th Overall. Arizona Cardinals Select OT, Andrew Thomas
With Arizona looking to protect future star QB, Kyler Murray, this provides a reliable bulldog that can help open running holes and give Kyler time with the ball to deliver to big playmakers such as Hopkins, Larry Fitz, and Christian Kirk.
9th Overall. Jacksonville Jaguars Select DT, Derrick Brown
It was only a matter of time before this beast got selected as he is the biggest disrupter to the run game in this entire class. The Jags will be looking to build back up the defensive prowess that made them a contender for the AFC not long ago. There is no better way to start that than with Derrick Brown.
10th Overall. Cleveland Browns Select WR, CeeDee Lamb
The Browns would be adapting to the new-look NFL with picking up this star receiver for big-time QB, Baker Mayfield. This reunion of the two Oklahoma stars could be lethal alongside the playmakers they already contain such as OBJ, Hooper, and Landry. This selection is a smart one because it gives Cleveland a new dynamic in their pass game and creates more single coverage for Odell and Jarvis.
11th Overall. New York Jets Select WR, Jerry Jeudy
Sam Darnold is in need of a go-to guy and Jeudy could be an immediate impact for their offense that is lacking overall. It is tough to say who is better between Lamb, Ruggs and Jeudy but they’re all destined to be studs. The WR position is also a desperate need for the Jets after the loss of Robby Anderson.
12th Overall. Las Vegas Raiders Select WR, Henry Ruggs
The star-studded WR class continues its trend here with Gruden snagging an extremely talented and explosive receiver. Ruggs, just like Lamb and Jeudy will be a starter on the outside right off the bat. Adapting to the new style of pass-heavy offense should be done here with the Browns, Jets, and Raiders as they jump on 3 superstar pass catchers in a row.
13th Overall. San Francisco 49ers Select CB, Kristian Fulton
This former LSU Tiger was so dominant at the college level that he did not feel the need to participate in the Senior Bowl. Fulton playing alongside Sherman could add serious strength to the Niners defensive core. I know the 49ers are hungry for one of those star WR’s, but unless they trade up, I think they just miss out.
14th Overall. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Select OT, Tristan Wirfs
A quick way to protect and please the new QB, Tom Brady is selecting a ready to start offensive tackle. This position is a no brainer for Tampa Bay, I think it is just a question of whether they go with Wirfs or Becton.
15th Overall. Denver Broncos Select DT, Javon Kinlaw
Putting Kinlaw aside Chubb and Von Miller will create nightmares for opposing offensive lines and quarterbacks. Drew Locke looked good to finish the season for Denver so if they can allow him to develop while strengthening their already good defense, they could be a serious problem down the road.
16th Overall. Atlanta Falcons Select DE, K’Lavon Chaisson
was a total stud for LSU and their ride to the title but pairing him on the other side of Dante Fowler Jr could impact Atlanta’s needs immediately. They have talent all over the offensive side of the ball but need to figure out how to make big plays on D. Chaisson is a perfect fit for today’s NFL with his combo of size and speed.
17th Overall. Dallas Cowboys Select CB, C.J Henderson
With the loss of Byron Jones, the Boys need help in their secondary and the big playmaker Henderson who also has a large frame for CB would be a plug in starter for their D.
18th Overall. Miami Dolphins Select OT, Mekhi Becton
After securing a QB with their first pick, it makes sense for the Dolphins to attempt protecting him with a stud OT. Becton will be an immediate starter for Miami and could change the outlook of the franchise alongside Tua.
19th Overall. Las Vegas Raiders Select LB, Patrick Queen
has the attributes to be a star hybrid player in the new age NFL. His ability to defend the pass and run will entice Coach Gruden. Las Vegas picking up a star WR from bama and a star LB from LSU would be a pretty nice haul.
20th Overall. Jacksonville Jaguars Select WR, Justin Jefferson
has the ability to play the slot or outside and his massive frame would make him a favorite target for most quarterbacks similar to how Joey Burrow used him. Jefferson had one of the best performances in CFB history in their semi final match up vs Oklahoma and he will provide a spark to Jacksonville's offense, which is much needed.
21st Overall. Philadelphia Eagles Select LB, Kenneth Murray
Similar to the trend I have for LB’s in this class, Murray has phenomenal speed for a backer and would add strength to an already solid Eagles defense. He was productive at Oklahoma as a freelancer type of player but if Philly uses him correctly he could be a major playmaker.
22nd Overall. Minnesota Vikings Select SS, Xavier Mckinney
The Vikings are lacking depth in their secondary and Mckinney could fill in at the nickel or safety position immediately. The Vikings are one of the more well rounded teams in the league and do not have an immediate need anywhere so selecting the top tier talent at this spot would be the wise move.
23rd Overall. New England Patriots Select DE, A.J Epenesa
As the Pats look to rebuild their defensive front 7, Epenesa is a perfect way to begin that. This big fella finished the season very strong and Belichick would be able to tune his game into an NFL style efficiently.
24th Overall. New Orleans Saints Select DT, Ross Blacklock
This selection is a high risk but potential high reward pick. Blacklock is highly talented but his durability is a question. If the right coaching staff and system gets ahold of him he could turn into a superstar.
25th Overall. Minnesota Vikings Select WR, Laviska Shenault
The highly touted class of WR’s strengthens even more with this late first round selection. The Colorado stud will transition smoothly into an effective Minnesota Offense led by Cousins and Cook.
26th Overall. Miami Dolphins Select WR, Tee Higgins
After selecting Tua and Becton, this selection of Higgins would round out their young offensive core incredibly well. This could be a draft class to remember for ages for Miami if they play their cards correctly.
27th Overall. Seattle Seahawks Select CB, A.J Terrell
As Seattle looks to build their D up to the level it used to be, selecting a player that can fit into a variety of packages like Terrell can is a definite plus. Aside from his coverage skills, he is also a reliable tackler and effective blitzer from the outside.
28th Overall. Baltimore Ravens Select S, Grant Delpit
The Ravens currently lack a reliable strong safety and although Delpit is a natural free safety, I could see them utilizing Earl Thomas and Delpit both within their secondary
29th Overall. Tennessee Titans Select OT, Austin Jackson
With the signing of Tannehill and emergence of Henry, it makes sense for the Titans to improve their already solid offensive line to add depth and sustainability to their offense.
30th Overall. Green Bay Packers Select WR, Brandon Aiyuk
The Pack have been searching for a solidified WR to pair up with Adams for what seems like a few years now. Aiyuk would be a wonderful #2 guy for Rodgers and would provide an aggressive style of wide receiver play for an offense that is in need of a spark.
31st Overall. San Francisco 49ers Select DE, Yetur Gross-Matos
With a question mark still hovering over Soloman Thomas, this pick would boost the niners already effective front 7. With them just missing out on the star first round receivers, i’d imagine they hop on one in the second or third round.
32nd Overall. Kansas City Chiefs Select CB, Jaylon Johnson
Oh how the rich get richer. The Chiefs do not have much needs as a team but their defense could certainly use some depth. Johnson is capable of covering the slot so he could be plugged into multiple schemes for KC
