Over the past year and some change, the Tik Tok app has blown up. Of course in the beginning of it’s surge, the app was often frowned upon, the app being known mostly for cringy teenagers to interact with their fan girls or fanboys via the video format.

Of course as a member of the public interest, I did not know this at first, so I unknowingly downloaded the app in late 2018. What I came to find out is that Tik Tok actually wasn’t that bad of an app. Oftentimes I would find myself watching Tik Tok’s for hours in my free time, consuming what I thought to be funny content.

Now of course I still love Tik Tok, there are plenty of good creators on the app, but over the course of time there has been a movement on the rise. The rise of the Tik Tok E-Boy. The E-Boy, is defined by “Urban Dictionary” as: “A boy who has black painted nails, skates, wears black clothes and chains and beanies, and they sometimes have their hair parted down the middle, and they are usually really pale. They got striped Long Sleeves or checkered sweaters under their T-shirts. They listen to music you “probably haven’t heard of'' AKA Lil Peep.”

This definition is mostly accurate and I must say RIP to Lil Peep as well. There are plenty of E-Boy’s out there, flexing and finessing on your For You Page and the leader of this “Clan” is Chase Hudson. You might know him by his screen name “Lil Huddy.”

Lil Huddy is very popular on the app, and has accumulated over 18 million followers. Huddy is a native of California and currently resides at the Hype House, a house where E-Boys and E-Girls collaborate to create content. I don’t follow Lil Huddy, or associate with him in any kind of capacity, but recently I came across one of his Tik Toks on the For You Page that really rubbed me the wrong way. Here it is:

Now you must be wondering, “Nick… what is so bad about this Tik Tok?" “All Huddy is doing is thirst trapping for his millions of teenage girl followers!”. Here is the issue. I have no problem with Lil Huddy’s content other than the fact that it doesn’t appeal to my demographic considering I am not interested in the E-Boy movement. The problem lies with Huddy’s headwear and music selection.

It is clear to see, in 1080 high definition, that Huddy is repping the Pittsburgh Pirates beautiful black and gold hat. My message to Huddy is to keep Pittsburgh, especially the Pirates out of the E-Boy movement. Out of all the hats you could have worn, you chose the one with the Pirates “P” on it….GTFOH. It is also embarrassing that our iconic hat has to be worn in unison with Cleveland based Rapper/Musician Machine Gun Kelly’s song “I Think I'm Okay.” Huddy must not understand that Cleveland sucks.

When that video went out to Lil Huddy’s 18 million followers, this just irked me. You don’t care about the Buccos, you have no association with them! Do you have an authentic Nike Batting Glove that was once strapped onto the hand of Xavier “The X-Man” Nady… no. Did you meet the legendary southpaw Zach Duke on the rubber before he got s*** on by Barry Bonds and The Giants in ‘06… no chance.

We as Pittsburghers have been with the Buccos through the ups and downs, the wins and loses, the Lastings Millage and Nyjer “Tony Plush” Morgan days. You haven’t. Don’t you ever thirst trap in my hat again. The only two mass marketed celebrities that should ever be seen in a Pirates cap are these two studs:

Maybe I’m being harsh on the kid. Maybe he is actually a Pirates fan and is just trying to expand the game of Baseball by doing the Renegade dance until more people tune into AT&T Sportsnet. Either way we just can’t be letting Bob Nutting get this free advertising opportunity. I can bet that there is probably some chick out there that said “hey mom, can I please get this hat that Lil Huddy was wearing in his Tik Tok?” Boom: Bottom Line Bob gets more sales. Unless Huddy can somehow persuade Nutting to spend, I’m just not with the Lil Huddy and E-Boy movement.
